Kopitiam Ghadir: Unconvinced but Hungry for More

I left Muzium Telekom with a burning dissatisfaction. Thus some heated discussions ensued on the way back to Afni's place, much to Aliya's chagrin - poor girl, she had to yell over our loud voices in order to get directions!

Our party of six went to Muzium Telekom to see Kopitiam Ghadir, a play written and directed by Haji Faisal Tehrani. This was actually its second staging but I missed it last year. The main premise of KG was a discourse over ridges in Islamic sects in a coffee shop called, what else, Kopitiam Ghadir in Taman Ahlul Bait Jaya. The namesake of the coffee shop was a place called Ghadir Khum, which was mentioned in a hadith as a place where Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) declared Ali ibn Abi Talib as his successor.

I won't go in depth into the so called Sunni-Shiite disagreement as I have no expertise in the matter. I went expecting a good discussion (and entertainment) but was deeply disappointed. The play was written almost as a propaganda - the arguments were heavily one-sided, and the 'villain' was portrayed as incompetent. It tried so hard to convince the audience to pick a side, and at one time directly contradicted its own message of Islamic unity.

With one and a quarter hour time limit with several songs performed, I understood the lack of depth in the substance brought forward. However, I still couldn't 'forgive' the approach; it's tasteless, almost.

But I have to applaud the efforts of the production. We need more such a brainertainment!

Saya jarang menjawab kritikan terhadap karya saya. Tetapi kali ini saya rasa penuh tanggungjawab untuk membetulkan keterpesongan kritikan saudara.

Mengapakah Kopitiam Ghadir 'onesided'? dan tidak doublesided?

1. Kerana, saya hanya menggali dari sumber ahlus sunnah wal jamaah SAHAJA. iaitu sunan Tirmidzi dan Musnad Imam Ahmad. Jika saudara mencari dalam kitab-kitab hadis sunni yang lain apakah ada sebarang hadis yang diriwayatkan oleh keluarga Rasulullah saw tentang baginda, kita hampir tidak menemui apa-apa pun. Kitab-kitab hadis besar 'kita' (ya saya sunni) one sided terhadap ahlul bait. Tahukah sdr dalam beribu-ribu hadis sahih yang dihimpun Imam Bukhari dan Muslim, jumlah hadis yang diambil daripada Sayyidah Fatimah Zahra oleh beliau tidak sampai sepuluh buah pun. Saya tidak dapat membina kes double sided kerana sumber saya sendiri sudah memang one sided.

2. Nah, jika saya memang ingin melakukan double sided discourse menerusi Kopitiam Ghadir saya akan terpaksa merujuk kita-kitab hadis syiah. Saya merujuk kitab sunni pun orang kata saya syiah, kalau saya merujuk kitab hadis syiah untuk bina wacana double sided agak-agaknya bagaimana?

3. Tok Malaya adalah protaip ustaz wahabi yang amat membenci ahlul bait. Ia bukan citra ustaz sunni. Dan itulah wahabi, ia memang one sided terhadap keluarga Rasulullah saw!

Terima kasih kerana menonton, sdr unconvinced, itu memadai buat saya, dan jika sdr hungry for more - my challenge - walaupun ia bukan bidang sdr, sdr mesti menggali sendiri. Dia telaga haudh nanti sdr tidak boleh menemui Rasulullah saw untuk mendapatkan syafaatnya dengan alasan 'saya tidak menggali itrah nabi' kerana bidang saya bukan hadis tetapi cari gali!
