Today marks the 36th day of fasting...

...from Facebook.

It wasn't that hard. I found more time to read; discovering new and not-so-new great books, and have been getting calls and texts from people who need to get hold of me instead of us engaging in some virtual communication. Yeah, as someone at work remarked, I am old-fashioned.

It started from an unofficial 'commitment' which, ironically, was declared on Facebook itself. Back in the 1st quarter of the year, a few friends gave up FB for Lent. I cheered them for such a vocation and sort of toyed with the idea of pursuing it myself during the holy month of Ramadhan. Unfortunately, I totally forgot about it until I attended a talk a week prior to the fasting month, in which the presenter's light joke about it brought back memories of such a 'vow.' Hence, the abstinence period started that very night.

Now that Eid is looming over, I still have no desire to log into FB. I might just give it up altogether. After all, this celibacy period has taught me that my life is absolutely no less exciting without it.

Eid Mubarak to all. My humble apologies for all intentional and unintentional mistakes and shortcomings.
